101 Things in 1001 Days

Since the beginning of this year, I feel like I’ve fallen off this proverbial bike from being constantly stuck. Stuck by my surroundings, past trauma, emotions, consequences, actions. Never really moving forward, just sitting there trying to gather the strength to pedal. Over the last two months, I’ve settled and slowly coasted along preparing for the next big hit in a month when Devin leaves for basic training. I’m a big list maker and believe it’s a part of my sanity so I’ve started my second go of the major task of 101 Things in 1001 Days. I loved it the first time and I feel it’s going to be a great way to keep me focused when my husband is gone, or at least the little tasks (some are more aggressive than others). I started at the beginning of August and started knocking some things off my list..

Keepsake Box

I love keepsake boxes, they are wonderful for keeping precious things in.  I really enjoyed this project; I guess you could say I was thinking “outside the box” since this isn’t my typical sewing or crocheting project.  It took me a little longer then 2 hours for me to do, and it was really easy.

I don’t crochet. I’ve never learned how! Now, my mother can sit down and whip out a cute dog sweater or set of coasters in a matter of an hour or two. Carmon has learned how to crochet and isn’t looking back. Why haven’t I thought about giving this a try? The following is why… in picture form.

Candles into Wax Tarts

Every time around the holidays I seem to get a lot of candles as gifts. I love candles, but not the amount of time it takes to burn and then remember to blow the flame out when unattended! I also have a lot of tart warmers around the house so that’s where I decided to fix this little problem. Instead of letting the gifted candles collect dust, let’s make wax tarts!
